Physicochemical analyzes, the foundation of La Drôme laboratoire's know-how

The team of experts from the laboratory assists you in defining your need for analysis and in interpreting the results in relation to the regulatory values. We invest every year in new devices, to improve the limits of quantification and to increase the rates thanks to the automation. In this way, the renewed analytical framework makes it possible to have at your disposal several analysis techniques for the same parameter, a reliability of the results for detections of ever smaller quantities, and an analysis of increasingly complex matrices.
The estimation of the physicochemical quality of a water is made by measuring a set of parameters constituting the water. Abnormal results make it possible to highlight and evaluate pollution levels. The laboratory carries out the classical physicochemical analyzes. Our staff is also able to achieve some in-situ measurements for parameters evolving over time (pH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine content, conductivity and redox potential).

We also carry out the group analyzes corresponding to the analysis program in the framework of monitoring water intended for human consumption. Depending on the sampling location (faucet, borehole, outlet water, etc.), the number and nature of the parameters to be used differ. Industrial pollution are measured by the following analyzes: SM (Suspended Materials), COD, BOD5, nitrogen and phosphorus. These assays are used to characterize wastewater.
Did you know? These analyzes are often supplemented by the search for microbiological parameters : Escherichia coli, total coliforms, faecal streptococci, total flora …

Examples of techniques used

Ion chromatography makes it possible to quantify all the anions and cations of water in a specific, fast and precise way. Continuous flow analyzers for detergent analysis, cyanide, ortho and phenol index. Automatic sequential analyzers for parameter search: nitrites, nitrates, ammonium and orthophosphate. The water composition analysis results are systematically verified by the calculation of an ionic balance.
